How Long We Keep Your Data
- Job seeker accounts: As long as you remain active + 3 years (you can delete anytime)
- Inactive accounts: Automatically anonymised after 36 months
- Job applications: Kept for 12 months (helps employers re-contact you)
- Financial records: 7 years (required by Nigerian tax law)
You can request permanent deletion at any time.
Your Rights Under NDPA 2023
You have the following rights (free of charge):
- Right to access your data
- Right to rectify incorrect data
- Right to delete your account and data
- Right to restrict or object to processing
- Right to withdraw consent (e.g., stop job alerts)
- Right to data portability (get your data in readable format)
To exercise any right, email privacy@employ.ng or use “Delete My Account” in settings. We respond within 7–14 days.
Security of Your Data
- All data encrypted in transit (HTTPS/TLS) and at rest (AES-256)
- Passwords are salted and hashed (never stored in plain text)
- Regular penetration testing and security audits
- Two-factor authentication (2FA) available
While we use bank-level security, no method is 100% secure. We cannot be liable for unauthorised access beyond our reasonable control.
Children
employ.ng is not for persons under 18. We do not knowingly collect data from minors.
International Data Transfers
Your data may be processed in Nigeria, the EU, or the US. We only use providers with adequate safeguards (NDPA-approved contracts and Standard Contractual Clauses).
Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy. Significant changes will be notified by email and a banner on the website. Continued use after changes means you accept the new policy.
