1. How employ.ng Protects You
- Every job is manually reviewed by our team before it goes live
- We block known scam companies and fake recruiters daily
- Employer accounts are verified with CAC documents, company email, and phone numbers
- Suspicious postings are removed within hours of detection
- We never ask job seekers to pay money to apply or get interviewed
2. Common Job Scams in Nigeria (and How to Spot Them)
RED FLAG SCAMS, NEVER PROCEED IF YOU SEE THESE
- “Pay ₦5,000–₦25,000 for training/materials”
- “Send money to secure the job”
- “Pay for visa/work permit before interview”
- “We will deduct from your first salary”
- Jobs that promise ₦500k–₦1m+ for fresh graduates
- Crypto, Forex, or “task” jobs on WhatsApp
- Interview invites via WhatsApp from 090, 070,
- 081 numbers (real companies use official email)
- Requests for your BVN, ATM PIN, or bank OTP
- Work-from-home jobs asking you to buy gadgets with your money first
3. Legitimate Employers Do This
- Use official company email (e.g., hr@flutterwave.com, careers@dangote.com, careers@employ.ng)
- Have a proper interview process (phone → virtual → physical)
- Never ask for money at any stage
- Post jobs with clear salary range, location, and requirements
- Can be found on Google, LinkedIn, or their official website
4. How to Stay Safe on Employ.ng
- Never pay money to apply or get a job – real jobs are free
- Never share your BVN, ATM details, or bank OTP with anyone
- Verify the company on Google or CAC website before attending interviews
- If the job was posted on employ.ng, forward suspicious messages to safety@employ.ng
- Use our “Report Job” button on every listing (takes 10 seconds)
- Enable two-factor authentication (2FA) on your employ.ng account
5. What Happens When You Report a Scam?
- We investigate within 2 hours
- Fake job is removed immediately
- Scammer’s account and IP are permanently banned
- We alert other job seekers and may report to EFCC/Police if serious
